Refurbishments & Upgrades
All sewage systems and pumping stations require maintenance. Those that are not maintained sooner or later fail. Even those that are well maintained eventually wear out.
Years of maintaining all types of waste water solutions, ensures that we are able to evaluate existing poorly performing units. We are then in a position to consider whether full replacement of the current system is required, or if for a fraction of the cost it can be refurbished. Here is an examples of recent how it works and how it can relate to your requirements. As a business model it can be applied to almost any client, from a private individual to a major organization (see:- Who do we work for? under:- MPC Services on the top navigation bar.
A Housing Association
Over the past 20 years the client had a rolling program of replacing the septic tanks on its housing stock with sewage treatment plants. Because of the flat terrain most of the plants required either pumps to pump in or out of them. When one of these pumping stations failed there was an inevitable problem with flooding, contamination and clean up costs. The equipment became more unreliable the more the units flooded. Soon the annual clean up costs were more than the maintenance costs.
In a unique experiment, the Housing Association and MPC Services signed a pre-negotiated £300,000, 6 year contract to upgrade their sewage systems. In effect MPC Services would take over the day to day running of the sites. We had calculated that if the plants were refurbished and equipped with the latest technology for remote offsite monitoring, a product we had recently developed (see control panel section for details).
An assessment of each of the forty sites was made. The sites were then refurbished, taking into account the latest H&S legislation, replacing all or part of the internals of the sewage plants. The pumping stations had their pumps, pipework and controls replaced. Each site was then equipped with a telemetry monitoring system which was developed and built by our specialist panel division. This system works on a pay as you go mobile phone system alleviating expensive land line rental charges.
This then became rare case in business of a ‘win-win situation’. The client would save a considerable amount of money, whilst not spending its capital budget. In the mean time helping the environment, by preventing spillage into water courses and at the end of the contract have returned to them 40 sewage systems in perfect working order.
MPC Services would profit from being able to manage the systems, resolving problems as the telemetry raised them, a rare case in business of a ‘win-win situation’.
